Today, I would like to share with you the cost of studying abroad internationally and how to reduce its costs. For instance, when you hear “study abroad in the United States,” it often sounds expensive, doesn’t it? Nowadays, the inflation rate has gone up quite a bit, impacting not just tuition fees but everyday expenses as well. This includes the cost of living, transportation, and even a simple burger combo.<\/span>

Let me provide you with some examples, starting with the price of a Big Mac at the world-famous fast-food restaurant, McDonald’s, in the United States before Covid-19 (pre-2019) and after Covid-19 (post-2019).<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

With that being said, I will share with you the most updated cost of study abroad all over the world and how to save the cost of study abroad.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

First, let\u2019s compare the average of the basics of studying costs around the world, including tuition for private language schools, rent for a studio apartment, Restaurant costs, the monthly grocery expenses and some other expenses such as phones and transportations for one person. People tend to think Los Angeles, USA, is expensive because it is a very popular place and thousands of people know about it. Many cities within Los Angeles are famous, such as Beverly Hills, Hollywood, and Santa Monica. However, as you can see<\/span>, the cost of living and expenses are very similar across all the cities<\/b> where international students choose as study destinations in English speaking countries, including Los Angeles. Thus,<\/span> the importance of reducing costs is more focused on tuition and housing rent.<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

1.2. Private English School vs ESL school at College\/ University<\/b><\/span><\/h5>\n\n\n\n

Many people considering studying in the United States often hear that community colleges are a budget-friendly option. But, what are the differences between studying at a community college and a private language school?<\/span><\/p>\n

Community college English<\/span> Program<\/span>
<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

“Community college” refers to two-year public colleges in the United States. The approximate English language proficiency requirements for international students enrolling in community colleges are typically TOEFL iBT 45-71 or IELTS 5.0-6.0 or Duolingo 75 – 85 . Students who don’t meet these English language requirements may still be able to enroll by taking ESL (English as a Second Language) courses.<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

However, it’s essential to note that the credits earned in ESL courses may not necessarily count toward graduation at the community college, and this could potentially be the time needed to graduate.<\/span><\/p>\n

Private English school<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

On the other hand, when enrolling in an ESL program at a language school (private school), there are no English proficiency requirements, making it accessible even for beginners in English!<\/span><\/p>\n

In connection with this, we have compared the costs of enrolling in an ESL program at a language school and directly entering a community college.<\/span><\/p>\n
